Lolita Ai Enma build
Reference Image and Original Design
Hell Girl is a gothic horror anime from the early 2000s that I grew up watching on TV. Around that time, Lolita fashion was very popular along with Visual Kei bands like Gazzette and Kalafina. Being deeply inspired by all of these influenced me to create this original design
Materials used for this project:
2. Black and red colored Jacqyard fabric
3. Black Crinoline/stiff net
4. Black organza jacquard embroidery fabric
5. Scalloped lace trim
6. Black cotton twill fabric
7. Burgundy satin for lining
8. Glass and acrylic sew-able beads
9. 4mm plastic boning
10. 0.5 inch polyester boning
11. Double fold bias tape
12. 3/8 inch corset boning casing
13. Crystal tear drop glass rhinestones
14. Antique filigree wraps
15. Lace trims for bonnet and ruffles
26. Plastic spider Lilly flowers
Corset
1.This is a 16-panel, double-layered corset.
2.I transferred it on mockup and after finalizing the pattern I transferred it on the main fabric and black layer
3.Using muslin fabric, I traced the corset pattern on my mannequin
4.The bottom layer or lining of the corset is made with cotton twill fabric, rigilene boning and bra cups.
5.Top corset is constructed with plastic boning and jacquard fabric.
6. All the rhinestones, the handmade bows, and Venice lace were carefully sewn onto the top and bottom of the corset
Petticoat
1.This is a double-layered, two-section petticoat skirt. Each section is about 9 inches wide and 40 yards long.
2. Since each section has 40 yards, the skirt required about 80 yards of hard net in total. A lining was added inside the skirt.
3. The most difficult part of this skirt was that stiff net usually comes in large rolls, so I had to cut the exact amount into 9-inch segments from 40 to 60-inch rolls, which took quite a bit of effort.
4. A small hoop made with steel boning was stitched inside the petticoat to keep its shape.
5. I stitched black bias tape around the edges of the entire petticoat skirt.
Skirt
1. This is a high-low skirt with scalloped edges and a pocket on the right side
2. Acrylic beads and handmade bows were hand-sewn onto the skirt, while small glass rhinestones were glued onto the dress
3. Black synthetic ruffled lace was sewn all around the skirt
Back bow
1. Hard net crinoline fabric and jacquard organza were sewn together to create the transparent bow
2. The bow is divided into three parts: the two top sections and the tail. I picot-stitched around the entire bow, including the tails, to give it a decorative finish
Straw Doll Prop
I made this doll using real coconut leaves and straw back in 2014 .Recently, I replaced the worn-out thread with nylon string, but everything else remains the same.
2. All the coconut leaves and straws were cut into small pieces and thoroughly washed before being used to make the doll.
3. After making it, I painted the prop with Chinese ink since that was all I had available at the time
4. I coated it with white powder to help set the color and make it more permanent.
Small bows
1.I made a total of 35 bows. For each, I cut three strips of two-inch-wide wired ribbon.
2. After sewing the pieces together, I cut two 1/8-inch ribbons, each 12 inches long, and tied them together to create the bow tails.
Headpiece
1. I stitched together two layers of black felt to create the base of the headband
2. 1 to 1.5-inch cotton and polyester lace were dyed red, pleated, and stitched to the base
3. Dyed a plastic spider lily flower with a mix of brown and red synthetic dye to achieve a blood-red color, and hand-sewed it onto the felt base
4. For the tail of the headpiece I stitched a 0.5 cm black bias tape in the middle of a dyed and pleated lace, made a bow from it, and sewed it on the felt base, which features a large teardrop glass rhinestone and a beaded chain with small teardrop rhinestones
Japanese Bracelet
1. I made this using black glass beads and transparent elastic
2. Two metal bells attached at the ends.
Sleeves
1. The detachable puffed sleeves are made from black jacquard organza fabric.
2. Three-inch black lace and handmade bows were hand-stitched onto the top and bottom of the sleeves.
Choker
1.The chocker was made using a black Venice lace which ties in the back with a velvet ribbon.
2.Red glass rhinestones were glued onto the choker.
Wig
A 200 cm long Hime wig was cut shorter for easier handling in this cosplay, and I styled the front with a flattering haircut to suit my round face.
Shoes
Two handmade bows were glued onto the tops of both shoes using E6000.
