How To Make Cosplay Ballet Shoes And Why You Should Do It
If you’re not a ballerina or someone who has practice wearing them, I recommend not wearing ballet shoes for cosplay. Here are the reasons why:
The inside is made with layers of cardboard and paper, which aren’t comfortable for normal wear. They will bruise your feet over time, which leads to my second point.
They are not walking shoes, which also means they aren’t con-friendly. Even though they are flat, they are hard and will prevent your feet from relaxing.
It’s hard to pose for photos wearing them if you don’t know how to stand on your tip toe. Say bye-bye to all the poses you had in your head and now it’s up to the photographer to carry the next step.
To make my own ballerina shoes I used “Ankle Straps Flats Shoes” which I bought from Amazon and I painted them with Jacquard Neopaque in Gamma Blue from their Sneaker series.
Then I made a small strap with fabrics, painted it, attached a hook and bow in the back of the strap, and wore it separately.
Cosplay should be for everyone, and with the amount of ballerina characters out there I think it would be difficult not to go for one at some point.
